Cosmos 1771 was a Soviet nuclear powered Radar Ocean Reconnaissance Satellite (RORSAT) launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome aboard a Tsyklon 2 rocket. The RORSATs were designed to search the oceans for US Navy task forces and other shipping.
