Description of COSMOS 2037 Satellite:

The Soviets reported that Kosmos 1950, launched on May 30, 1988, was a geodetic satellite known as GEO-IK. Kosmos 2037, launched from Plesetsk by a Tsyklon (F-2) was a similar payload. The satellite design was based on the small Cosmos navigation series, measuring 2 m in diameter and 2.1 m long with a boom extending from the top. Mass is about 900 kg. GEO-IK was oriented with it long axis pointing toward earth. Transmission frequencies were given as 140 MHz and 400 MHz. It could be tracked by laser or by onboard flashing lights.
